Conversation
A very common way to start a conversation is to talk about the weather. When you're traveling, remember that there is considerable variation in climate in the United States.

(A man calls the travel agent’s)
Customer:   Hello. Is that    1    Travel?
Travel Agent: Yes, it is. Can I help you?
Customer:   Yes, I want to have a holiday in the sun.
Travel Agent: Certainly, sir. Where do you want to go?
Customer:   I’m thinking about Florence. But I need some     2   about the weather first. What’s the average temperature there now?
Travel Agent: Let me see—the     3   is 28℃.
Customer:   28℃. That’s fine. And is there a lot of sun at this time of year?
Travel Agent: Yes, it is usually    4

A: Excuse me! What will the weather be like tomorrow?
B: I don’t know. Go and watch the television for the weather forecast.
A: That’s a good idia.
B: Why are you so interested in tomorrow’s weather? Are you going out?
A: No, I’m going to wear my new clothes, but I will get wet if the weather’s bad.
(A weather forecaster’s voice puts in.)
B: Look, it will be rainy. You will get wet.
A: Oh, no! Now I shan’t wear my new clothes.
B: Certainly not. Leave them for the fine days.
