Sample 1  A Recipe for Winter Bamboo Shoots

 

Materials:
250g winter bamboo shoots; 30g mushrooms; 25g carrots; 25g green soybeans.
Preparations:

  1. Slice the winter bamboo shoots, and then cut into thick strips; chop the mushrooms and carrots.
  2. Drop the mushrooms, bamboo shoots, diced carrots, and green soybeans into boiling water and cook till done.
  3. Flavor boiling oil with Chinese onion and ginger, add cooking wine, salt and sugar, bring to the boil, put in the prepared bamboo shoots and the other ingredients, cook for ten minutes to boil down the soup.

 

Sample 2  A Recipe for Chinese White Turnips in Mutton Soup

 

Materials:
1000g Chinese White turnips; 1000g mutton chops; a few coriander leaves;
Preparations:

  1. Cut the turnips into slices, cut each slice into five linked slices, rinse in water, coat with dry cornstarch, steam until done.
  2. Put the mutton chops into boiling water, simmer for five minutes, drop in the sliced turnip and boil for a while, add salt, pepper and MSG, sprinkle with coriander leaves.

Dialogue1
Black: What’s this dish  It’s so nice, both light and tasty(清淡的;味道好的).
Jin Hua: Oh, it’s Winter Bamboo Shoots(竹笋), cooked with different vegetables.
Black: Well,   1  learn the recipe(菜谱). What materials do we need for it 
Jin Hua: Nothing special. Just some tender(鲜嫩的) winter bamboo shoots.
Black: I see. What else should we  2   
Jin Hua: Some carrots, green soybeans(大豆), and mushrooms(蘑菇).
Black: So first of all we should slice (切片)the bamboo shoots and chop (切块)the mushrooms and carrots. Am I right 
Jin Hua: Yes And then we drop all the materials prepared   3  boiling water and cook till done.
Black: The   4   is adding flavors(味道), isn’t it 
Jin Hua: Exactly. We should use another pan with some oil in it. Flavor the oil with Chinese onion (葱)and ginger(姜), add cooking wine, salt and sugar, bring to the boil.   5  , we put in the materials, and cook for ten minutes to boil down (收汤)the soup. That’s all.

Alright: By the way, what materials do we need    1   cook the White Turnip (萝卜)in Mutton Soup

Alright: OK. Shall we    2   the turnips into slices

Zhao: Yes. But we should first put the mutton chops into boiling water, simmer (煨)them for   4   .

Zhao: Yeah. To make the soup tastier and look more attractive(好看的), we should sprinkle (洒)it with a few coriander leaves.
Alright: Wow, what a nice soup!
